How to Setup a Clickbank Tracking ID Code (TID) On Your Affiliate Hoplinks

One of the characteristics that all super affiates and top internet marketers have in common is that they are fanatical about testing and tracking.

In the past, in order to track where your clickbank sales were coming from you either had to sign up for multiple clickbank accounts (which was cumbersome and not consolidated) or you had to purchase third party tracking software. Not any more.

Clickbank recently added their own in-house tracking system which allows you to modify your hoplinks so you can learn exactly where your sales are coming from. After conversing with many of our affiliates, I was surprised how few people are using this free tracking tool.

Why should you track your clickbank hoplinks?

  • If you have a website(s) with multiple pages (articles, reviews, etc) containing your standard hoplink you will have no idea which of those pages are generating the most sales for you. With the TID tracking code, you will be able to track each page individually (as many pages as you like), to find out which ones are converting the best for you. Once you know which pages convert the best, you can begin to send more traffic to your highest converting pages, or roll those pages out across more websites.
  • You can place your TID tracking code in the HTML for grahpics, including banners, photos and book cover images to see which images and banners convert best for you.
  • You can implement ad tracking into your PPC campaigns based on which pages, reviews or ads are most profitable. (send more PPC traffic to your highest converting pages).

How To Create the TID Code From Clickbank

*Watch A Video Tutorial About How to Create Your Custom TID Code

TID Code Tutorial Video

Here's an example of the clickbank hoplink URL with a tracking code tagged on at the end:

http://youraffid.burnthefat.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=XXXXXXXX

You can choose your own tracking codes and create as many as you need. The tracking code "/?tid=XXXXXXXX" is just an example. Replace the X's with whatever code you choose. All you have to do is use a forward slash (/) question mark (?) tid= and then your TID code.

Your custom TID code can be between 8 and 24 characters long, containing alpha and numeric characters only - no special characters. Any tracking code that is longer than 24 characters will be automatically truncated. Any tracking code that contains characters other than alpha or numeric values will have the entire tracking code removed from the hoplink and the sales process and this will not be listed in the transaction report within your Clickbank account.

*Please note: the "tid" in the code above code must be lower case. If these letters are capitalized, then your tracking code will not function properly.

For example, when you are promoting our Burn The Fat site you would use your regular clickbank hoplink (instructions here), and then you just put your desired tracking code on the end.

After implementing this TID code, sending traffic through your new link, and making a sale, ZZZZZZZZ will show up in the TID column in your Clickbank stats under the "Reporting" --> "Transactions" tab -showing you where that sale came from.

The TID codes may not show up in real time. It may take a few hours for the TID code to appear after the purchase - even if the sale is already listed. Once the TID code shows up in your account, here is what it will look like (your custom code will show up in the TID column):

Last, but not least, keep in mind that using these tid tracking codes is totally optional, and your old hoplinks that don't have a tid code will always keep working. The TID code is simply an extra feature you can use so you know exactly where your sales came from.

If you have any questions about setting up your Clickbank TID Code, or how and where you can use it, you can contact me using the contact form at: http://burnthefat.com/contact
